Mortgage instalment suspension for weather-related events in Veneto territories

The Italian Banking Association (ABI) has just issued a circular letter to its members in which it informs them that the Council of Ministers' Resolution has been published on the website of the Civil Protection Department, extending for 12 months the mortgage instalment suspension measure envisaged by the Ordinance of the Head of the Civil Protection Department as a consequence of the exceptional weather events that occurred from 30 October 2023 to 5 November 2023 in the provinces of Belluno, Treviso and Venice.

Since October 2023, market rates have gradually decreased as a result of the ECB cuts. In early 2025, short-term rates declined further, while long-term rates, despite a drop in early April, rose overall.
